Newborn Care
- It is safest for babies to sleep on their backs.
Sleeping on the side or on the stomach increases the risk for SIDS (Sudden Infant
Death Syndrome.) Avoid soft bedding or soft objects in the crib.
- Protect your baby from illness when possible
Limit the babies' exposure to sick people, especially until two months of age.
Have anyone who touches the baby wash their hands.
Stay away from crowds.
Make sure the adults are vaccinated against flu (Oct-March) & whooping cough.
- Don't give Tylenol or any medication without checking with your pediatrician.
- Don't bathe the baby until the umbilical cord falls off. (Sponge baths are OK.)
