About our Lactation Specialists
Dr. Jennifer Shaer and Dr. Lauren Macaluso are board certified pediatricians and International Board Certified Lactation Consultants. They have partnered to establish the Breastfeeding Medicine Center of Allied Pediatrics. The Breastfeeding Medicine Center services breastfeeding women across Long Island and Queens. In addition to providing clinical care, Drs. Shaer and Macaluso are active in educating other physicians, Allied Pediatrics of New York health professionals and new parents about breastfeeding. Drs. Macaluso and Shaer work in collaboration with lactation consultants to bring you the best lactation support possible. Dr. Jennifer Shaer graduated from Tufts University in 1992. She attended Medical School at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, graduating in 1996. She completed a pediatrics residency at Albert Einstein / Montefiore Medical Center and was chief resident at Jacobi Medical Center. During her free time Dr. Shaer enjoys running and spending time with her husband and three children. Dr. Lauren Macaluso hails from Suffern, New York. She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelors of Science in 1990. She then went on to Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, in Philadelphia, graduating in 1994. Dr. Macaluso completed her Residency at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC, and specializes exclusively in Breast Feeding Medicine. She was a Clinical Instructor of Pediatrics at George Washington University as well as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein School of Medicine. Dr. Macaluso is married with two children and enjoys playing tennis, running, and coaching basketball. Employed Lactation Consultants Drs. Shaer and Macaluso employ international board certified lactation consultants. All of their lactation consultants are meticulously screened and all clinical activities are supervised. Office visits are conducted jointly by the doctor and the consultant. All phone calls and all home visits are logged and reviewed by the physician. |
